Emulsifiers

Emulsions are fine dispersions of two non-miscible liquids. In cosmetics, these generally consist of water and a lipid (oil), whereby a general distinction is drawn between oil-in-water (O/W) and water-in-oil (W/O) emulsions. In other words, either an oil phase is dispersed into a continuous aqueous phase or an aqueous phase is dispersed into a continuous oil phase.
